My In-flight Travel Essentials

Hi guuuys :)

Okayy, so firstly I have to start by apologising for my complete lack of presence on this blog in the last 2 months! Long story short, I basically had an extremely hectic period of exams around the start of June in which I pretty much didn't do anything except study, and then literally the day after I finished those exams, I went overseas for 3 weeks, and so there just wasn't a chance to post, and that sort of brings us till now. I also am in the process of considering transferring my blog over to Squarespace, because I have seen a number of really beautifully designed and easy to work websites/blogs via that and am thinking it may be time for a change, but will keep y'all updated as I go, so for now, I wanted to check in and post anyway!

Okay, so I took all these pictures as I was packing my hand luggage the day before I left for my holiday so that I could do this post. I love packing and always get so excited doing it, but am always leaving out important stuff, so I love posts/videos like this and thought I might do one for you guys in case any of you are interested or travelling any time soon :D I went backpacking around a few countries in Central/Eastern Europe (Greece, Croatia, Czech Republic and Hungary) and it was absolutely amazing- I'm sure I will be doing quite a few posts on some of my travelling adventures! But basically, because we would always b carrying whatever we took with us on our backs, I did have to pack with that in mind! So here are my in-flight essentials, everything that I had in my hand luggage for my flight(s) there.

1= My purse
Okay so this seems pretty obvious, but yeah, I needed to have this on hand for my layover and when we arrived and stuff.

2= My ID
You don't actually need this while travelling, but I know that you need to have proof of nationality to be let back into your country if your passport if lost/stolen. And seeing that I am so paranoid about losing important stuff like my passport, I brought this just in case.

3= My passport
Oh so important, kinda goes without saying!

4= A pair of shorts (change of clothes)
So we were going from a really cold, rainy winter in Cape Town to a really hot sunny Europe. So leaving SA I was in leggings and a hoodie and lots of warm winter clothes, but I knew as soon as we landed in Athens, I would be boiling, so I brought a pair of shorts so I could change in the airport before we got on our ferry to Santorini. Also, I hate going so long without showering or changing clothes, so in general, I like to have an extra pair to put on either at a layover, or when we arrive. We were travelling for a pretty long time- it was first a 9 hour flight to Dubai, then a 9 hour layover there, and then a second 5 hour (I think) flight to Athens, so by the time we got there, I was well ready to ditch the leggings and put on a fresh pair of shorts.

5= Medication
I have medication and vitamins, etc. that I need to take every night and morning, so I just put the pills I needed into a little tupaware to bring on the flight and to take during my layover. I also put in a few headache pills just in case.

6= Foreign adaptors
I just wanted to bring these along because I wanted to be able to charge my phone at the airport during our layover and while we were on the ferry, etc.

7= Phone charger
As I said before... hehe

8= Hand sanitiser and hair accessories
I think that hand sanitiser is one of those essentials when travelling around, particularly in airports and on public transport and all that, you never know when it will come in handy. And then just a few hair bits and pieces, bobby pins and hair ties, etc.  in case.

9= Earphones
Yeah, again, pretty obvious, just for listening to music on my phone or watching movies on the plane or what not.

10= A book
It's always nice to have a book with you during layovers or long flights. This one is called Paper Towns by John Green and I finished it while over there and absolutely loved it- I highly recommend it if any of you are looking for a good book.

11= Dettol sanitising wipes
Another one of those things I like to have with my while travelling

12= My sunnies
We were arriving in Athens at lunch time and I knew it would most likely be hot and sunny, so I brought these along in my hand luggage.

13= Sunglasses case
Because otherwise my sunglasses would definitely be squished, it's happened to me before :'( haha

14= A pair of warm, cozy socks
I don't know if it's just me, but I get super cold on long-haul flights, they pump the air con and I always find my feet get freezing, so I like to take a warm pair of socks.

15= My make-up and toiletry bag
I generally don't really wear make-up while travelling like on flights and all that, so I just packed a few minimal things and then a couple of toiletries. I hadn't packed my toothbrush and toothpaste yet when I took this photo, but otherwise here is what I had in my hand luggage toiletry bag:

Bare in mind also, that you can't take items that are more than 100ml otherwise they confiscate them.
1= Moisturiser
This is so important for my while flying! I find that for some reason my skin gets super dry when flying a lot and so it's important to just keep moisturising. This moisturiser is the clear Start Overnight Treatment by Dermalogica, I have been using it for a while now and really like it cause it's very light and works well with my skin.

2= Tissues
You never know when you'll need these, so yeah, just a handy thing to have with you I think. Also I have such bad allergies that I don't really go anywhere without tissues anymore haha

3= Sorbert Spa Nourish Hand and Nail Cream- Sea Botanicals
4= Make-up Removing and Toning Face Wipes
These are just like the ordinary face wipes, mine are from Clicks, and I just took a few out and put them in a packet because I didn't want to whole box with me on the flight. I like having these while travelling, cause often you just feel a bit tired and gross and can't shower or wash your face, so these do pretty good job at acting as a bit of a toner and just freshening you up a bit.
5= Eos Strawberry Sorbet LipIce

6= The Body Shop: Tea Tree BB Cream in the shade 01
Like I said earlier, I don't like to wear make-up while flying and stuff because my skin doesn't deal particularly well with travelling anyway, so blocking up my pores with loads of make-up and all that seems silly. But I did want to take something light to cover up a few dark rings or spots or anything either during our layover or to freshen up slightly when we arrived, because we weren't going straight to a hotel, we had to catch a 7 hour ferry straight away. So I brought this because this BB cream is like the perfect thing for a very light cover up that is still good for you skin.

7= EcoTools brush (not sure what number/name)
8= Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
9= Another EcoTools brush
10= Bourjois Paris Bronzing Powder
11= Mac Cremesheen lipstick- Peach Blossom
This is a super neutral pretty pink colour- very subtle and nice an moisturising as well, so it doesn't dry your lips out too much or anything.
12= In-flight Super Moisture Hand Cream

So that's everything I look with me in my hand luggage. I hope this maybe helped any of you planning a trip anytime soon.... I had such an amazing time in Europe, and so I'll definitely post soon about some of the things I got up to.

Till then, lots of love
