MAY FAVOURITES

So I looked up at my calendar and saw today is the last day of the month, how crazy that we are already in out 6th month of the year, I actually cannot believe how fast it has gone. I say this every year though, and I think that as we get older, it seems to go faster; which is actually a rather daunting thought...

So instead of doing beauty favourites because as lame as this sounds, I don't think I have bought any new/exciting products for a couple of months because I've been pretty busy at school so just sticking with what products I know, etc...

But I thought I'd do my TOP FIVES for movies, songs, tv series and books this month... This does seem a bit random but I decided to do it because especially with the movies and books, I really do recommend that if you haven't watched/read them, you should do so straight away :)

MOVIES:
- The Great Gatsby (ohmyword, this was beyond incredible!!!!)
- The Perks of Being a Wallflower (one of those brilliant movies that leaves you inspired after)
- What to Expect When You're Expecting (one of those mixed-up good old chick flicks ish)
- The Life of Pi (let's just say it won so many awards for a reason!)
- Pitch Perfect (I have not enjoyed the humour in a movie like I did for this one for ages, not to  mention the absolutely incredible singing!)

BOOKS:
- The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald (yes, I am not a little obsessed)
- The Sky is Everywhere- Jandy Nelson (This is probably my favourite book in a long time)
- Things I Want My Daughters To Know- Elizabeth Noble (a light read but a beautiful story)
- The Language of Flowers- Vanessa Diffenbaugh (a really different story, I loved it!)
- I have just started 'The Fault in Our Stars' - John Green and it so touching, I can't put it down...

TV:
- NCIS LA (just finished the 4th season and it is so good, I am practically bursting trying to find out what happens next season!)
- Pretty Little Liars ( I am rewatching from season 1 while I wait for more episodes in the current screening to come out- I guess that is show of how much I love it)
- Grey's Anatomy ( I am half way through the 9th ad final season. I have been watching since season 1, I absolutely love it and am so sad to see it going soon!)
- Revenge (Late on the bandwaggon for this, so only just finished season 1, but loving it too!)
- The Bachelorette ( I am watching Emily's season now and it is down to the final 6! Ahh, I love Sean, Arrie and Jef- don't tell me who wins pleeease :) )

SONGS:
-  Red and White and Blue and Gold- Aoife O'Donovan (not pop-py at all, but very much my taste and I listen to it on repeat for hours)
- Tip Toes - Jayme Dee (I don't even know what to say, have a listen- she is an incredible singer!)
- Just My Love - Katherine Hughes (also a fantastic singer)
- The Weight of Living Part 1- Bastille (this is just too beautiful for words)
- People Help The People- Birdy (I love her voice too, such a beautiful song)

Enjoy the entertainment

Would You Rather

So I have been wanting to do a post like this for a long time and I finally found a tag with the questions cause frankly, no one really has the time to make up their own :)
So here goes my 'would you rather' tag :)

1) TEA OR COFFEE
Tea tea tea- I really don't like the taste of coffee although I desperately want to like it because it always
smells so delicious when I wake up in the morning and walk into the kitchen. Plus, the extra caffeen boost would do no harm during exam time. But somehow my desperate attempts to give it a chance fail each time, so tea it is.

2) CATS OR DOGS
Ooh, this is a hard one for me. If you asked me 5 months ago I would probably have said cats. But I love my little puppy with all my heart too. I think I am neutral because right now, as I type this post my beautiful cat and puppy are both sleeping on my bed next to me.

3) VANILLA OR CHOCOLATE
Chocolate for sure!

4) PINK OR BLUE
Blue probably. I used to have a very in-your-face hot pink bedroom with bight walls and linen and carpets, etc. Thank goodness those days passed after 13! I think blue and I wear it a lot too for some reason, maybe because my eyes are blue, who knows? Haha, although neither are my favourite colours.

5) HEELS OR FLATS
Flats. I am too tall to add another 12 inches to myself. Plus I must be a terrible wuss when it comes to this but my feet cannot withstand more than maximum 2 hours in heels! I once read some guy's bio on Facebook and he wrote under "what I look for in a girl" 1) The ability to run in heels- very important... I laughed so hard, he is definitely never going to be the person for me!

6) PIZZA OR BURGERS
Ohh, also tough- I don't eat either very often. But I probably have to say Pizza because I went on youth exchange to Italy for 2 months and the pizza was just so delicious there! So I have grown to really like it, doesn't everyone!?

7) TV OR BOOKS
TV. I wish that I could say I am that educated, book girl who reads a book a day and is all intelligent and knowledgable but no, I read very little. Probably because I am possibly the world's slowest reader so I tend to even loose interest, but also because I never seem to have time. Not to mention, I am a sucker for TV series too, so this is the clear winner.

8) APPLE OR WINDOWS
Apple. My MacBook Pro is everything. I use it all the time and would NEVER be able to go back to any other software now. I have become a bit of a technology snob with it.

9) HISTORICAL EUROPE OR TROPICAL ISLANDS
Tropical Islands without a doubt. I love the sea and sun and beautiful walks on the beach. And rather shamefully, I admit that museums tend to bore me, even art galleries or exhibits. Historical towns aren't my cup of tea, let me snorkel in the Caribbean any day.

10) NEW YORK OR LA
Hmm, also tough. Probably LA because, as I said, I love the beach and the sun. But there's something so exciting about NYC as well. I feel like you're just bound to be successful there, still a bit caught up in that American Dream philosophy at the moment, but come on, especially if you're not from the US, who wouldn't want to live in New York?

11) FACEBOOK OR TWITTER
Facebook because I feel like there is so much more that you can do on it. Although I like twitter a lot too.

12) MORNING OR NIGHT
I am not really a morning person, I hate waking up early, I don't like breakfast and I always go to bed late, even if I have nothing specific to do. I can quite easily stay up deep into the night rather than wake up very early.

13) EYELINER OR LIPSTICK
Both preferably, but if I had to choose, probably eyeliner because my eyes feel so small without it and I don't usually use a lot of lipstick anyhow, usually just gloss or balm will do.

14) SUMMER OR WINTER
I do like both. I think I am more of a summer person, but I do love so many things about winter too! Be sure to check out my 'What I Love About Winter' post!

15) MILKSHAKE OR ICE-CREAM
Ice cream for sure! After all, a milkshake is kind of just like melted ice cream haha

16) OUTDOORS OR INDOORS
Outdoors for sure. I like swimming and playing sports or going on picnics and stuff like that. I much prefer being outside than confined to my room for too long.

17) BRACELETS OR NECKLACES
Bracelets. I don't really wear necklaces that much... although, actually, very recently, I have started liking wearing like shortish delicate little necklaces.

Feel free to do this Would You Rather tag too as a response- and please link me to let me know so I can check out your opinions :)

Gatsby, what Gatsby?

My English class's current set work book is The Great Gatsby, and it is conveniently paired with the new release of the more updated movie, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio. It is being released this week and I don't know about the rest of the world, but there has been a big hype about its release, so everyone is looking forward to seeing it. Including me, I love the book and so I am sure that the movie is going to be just as good.

It is set in the 20s and so everyone is caught up in the "american dream" and the rich dress extravagantly, with huge ball gowns, lots of jewellery and fancy, posh accessories.

Anyway, so in the spirit of Gatsby, I have been looking at some pictures on We Heart It and thought to share them with you, so enjoy :)
Oh and if you've not read the book yet, the name of this post is a quote from it...

One of my favourite quotes in the book is in the closing lines:
"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter- tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther... So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

RED CARPET DESIGNERS: Oscar De La Renta

Okay, so this is my last designer for this series of posts... I only choose these three because they so far, tend to have dresses that I particularly like and stand out to me. But if these posts have interested you at all, definitely check out Versace, Dior, Chanel, Carolina Herera and Gucci, because they are other ones that I love and feel free to comment if there are any other designers I should do a post like this about :)

SPRING 2011:
I absolutely love this dress, it is just so well fitted.
The model has a tiny waist, which really suits this dress, and I love
the sash hanging down. I also love the quite deep scoop neck cut.
Kind of like a mild "mermaid look". Very fitted and elegant.
I think that the low neckline has been done very well, I love the
thin belt pulling in at the waist and the super thin straps.

I really like this dress. I just think the lace detail is so pretty!
FALL 2011:
This is just such a unique and beautiful
piece. I especially love the top bit,  from above the bust to
the neckline.

Whilst this is not something that I personally would
wear, I also really like it. It's simplicity and shape is very striking,
and the one shoulder is cut beautifully I especially like the "zebra"
band that goes along the one shoulder cut.
Th fabric is interesting, I am not sure what I think of it
yet. But I love the cut and shape of the dress! I think that it is so
well fitted, the mermaid shape looks so beautiful and I love the
one shoulder.
SPRING 2012
I love this dress. The colours quite surprisingly, work
well together. I love the black lace and the big flared out skirt.
It is very high fashion, but I love it. I also love the 3/4 lace sleeves of the crop top.
Similar to the one above, I also really like this. Again, perfect colours.
I like the three quarter sleeves very much and the lace is beautiful.
This skirt is so beautifully draped and gathered, and yeah, just a really interesting
cool lace crop top and skirt.
I love the cut of this dress. The skirt is flowy and perfect
for spring/summer, the belt is a nice touch and the low line neck cut
is really suited. I like the colour too, it is very bright, but I think
that it probably does work here.
FALL 2012
What I like about this dress is that its very interesting
and certainly unique. I like the baby pink and the gold detail
on the left if the bust is something that I've never seen before.
I think that the silver(y) dress on the right is very pretty.
It is a simple cut and style, but pulled off really well despite the super metallic material.
I also really like the drop-waist style and contrasting materials in the dress on the left.
SPRING 2013:
I love this dress too, I think that it is a beautiful
colour,  and I really like how the white flowers become more
clustered towards the top. It is also like it's length and that is gives a peep of the ankles
and shoes.
This is such a flattering dress because of the black stripe
along the side. I like the detail at the neck and the high slit.
This was by far, the most loved and talked-
about dress of this collection. And I can see why, I think it's super pretty
- the only thing I'm not a fan of is the belt buckle thing along the waist.
So thats it for my red carpet designers posts, hope you enjoyed!

RED CARPET DESIGNERS: Valentino

SPRING 2011:

I love how this dress falls and the interesting flower detail type thing on the
left shoulder. I also like that it ends just above her ankles.
Firstly, I  love this red, especially compared to the muted
colour pallet of most of this collection. I like the slit and love the sheer long sleeves.
The overall fit and shape of this dress are just so beautiful.
Another one, very similar to the first one that I like a lot!

FALL 2011:
I love this high scoop-neck couture Valentino dress.  I think
that the beading is so so beautiful and I love the sense of sophistication and royalty
it gives off, definitely a dress to make a statement!
The embroidery and beading in this dress is quite something! I like the
colour a lot, and I specifically like the very high neck and collar, which is quite unusual
to see on full-length long sleeve dresses. I think this is a perfect dress for
a fall collection.
SPRING 2012:
How pretty and spring-y is this?! The lace, precise embroidery
and beautiful beading make this an absolutely stunning dress. I really like the sheer paneling on
the chest and the little bow around the waist.

Again with the more muted colours, this was probably one of the more
simple designs from the round up but it is so different and beautifully
streamline. I think it is different and very interesting.
Two very beautiful red dresses from spring 2012. I love the pockets of
the left dress! However my personal favourite it the one on the right, I
love its cap sleeves and drop waist which is belted.
FALL 2012

This is Anne Hathaway in fall 2012 Valentino couture. I don't think
that the dress looked to great on her, becaue it may have worn her a bit. But
I love the actual dress because it's so different. The scallops around the neck are
so beautiful and loose, sheer feel is very elegant and flowy.
SPRING 2013
I think that is really pretty, especially the loose almost see-through sleeves
and the absolutely beautiful colour.

I love that this material has been used and made to work so well, even though
there are so many ways it could have potentially gone wrong. I like that these dresses
are different and have a more rigid shape to them.
I love love this dress. I am a fan of the a high neck line with a collar on
long dresses! I love that all shades of blue are in this season, and how brilliant
is this lace!?
