RED CARPET DESIGNERS: Elie Saab

So one of my all time favourite designers is Elie Saab. He always produces the most beautiful gowns and long dresses and I always keep tabs on what the new collections are and who is wearing Elie Saab on the red carpet- especially during awards season. So I decided to share some of my favourite designs over the past 3 years with you.

SPRING 2011 COLLECTION

This is possibly one of my all time favourites, it
was worn to the Oscars by Mila Kunis, and in my
opinion looked even better on her. 

I love the colour of this dress. It is quite an unusual
cut, but I think it is interesting and like the glittery lace on the bust.

Entitled under a collection called 'Bridal Inspiration', I love this detailed
 bust and beige colour. I also love the simple rouging
after it pulls in at the waist and I like the big slit. 

These stunning, statement black sequin dresses
are so so beautiful. I particularly like the strapless one
on the left. 

FALL 2011 COLLECTION:

This is such a stunning dress. The beading is so
precise and intricate. I specifically love the beaded
long sleeves and the colour of the dress. 

Again, one of those really beautiful, full beaded/
sequinned dresses. Elie Saab always manages to keep
these showy dresses from going overboard and in a way, simplistic within the
immense detail of it all. 

SPRING 2012 COLLECTION

Mustard colours seemed to be really in
that season and this dress is just so high fashion. It drapes
and falls so perfectly and I think it is nice to see something a bit different, like this,
by Elie Saab. 

As you can see, bright colours were in for this collection. I
absolutely love this green dress. I think the lace at
the top and over the bust is really so beautiful and I love the
overall cut and shape of the dress. 

All of these belonged to the 2012 Spring "vintage collection".
They are all relatively basic shapes, but the beading and draping is some
well done. I love their simplicity and think they're all gorgeous.

FALL 2012 COLLECTION

I love this crimson chiffon dress from the Elie Saab pre-fall collection. It really is just so beautiful!

This black, intricate, couture dress is really so
beautiful. I love the lace at the top covering
the sweetheart ish neckline underneath to form a higher, boat line neck. 

This is again one of my all time favourites. It is very different to the
rest of this fall collection but is so stunning. I love the lowered waist-cut,
the beading at the top is so beautiful and it falls so
well down from the tiny gold belt at the waist.

Firstly, I love love this light grey blue colour. I think that all of these dresses are so beautiful.

SPRING 2013 COLLECTION

This white lace, drop waist evening gown is so beautiful. 

I love the lace and long sleeves. It is part of the spring couture collection 

of this year. 

Royal blue evening gowns were really in this season, 

but of them all, this has to be my favourite! I love the collar and

long lines, elongating the bust, and the slit is perfectly positioned. 

Okay, hope the long post was worth it. Looking at all those stunning dresses, I am in awe of how someone can create that from just a bunch of material, lace, and stuff, etc! Expect some more red carpet fashion designer posts soon soon. 

I Choose Happiness

I looked through one of my favourite blogs, http://justlittlethings.net/page/2 and picked out all of the "little things" posts that make me really happy. In doing something as small as this, I think that our world is the greatest thing that we could ever have, there are trillions of tiny tiny little things that occur every day that make me so so happy.

THE MESSY DESK IN THE CORNER

So a few days ago I was studying for a huge geography test the next day, and at about 12 that night, I stopped to go to sleep, took one look at my desk and laughed at how absolutely cluttered and messy it was. I am not usually that type of person, but somehow my desk is always a right mess. 
But somehow, everything on it is important, if that makes sense- it is  "corner desk" built into one of the corners of my room and has lots of cabinets and cupboards below and stuff, one of the walls it is against I have painted a bright grass green which I love- I know this is a pretty random post, but I was thinking as I looked at it, that the way it looks and the things on it kind of reflect where I am in my life at the moment and who I am. 

1= my desk calendar, I would not be able to get through a school year without this! I need it to be able to write down my activities and things like that as well as school tests and tasks everyday, so I never forget. 

2= My macbook pro, always with me! Even when I am studying, I can't help but have it with me in case some Youtube, twitter, blog or music procrastination is necessary. Haha, I also do use it for research and stuff too ;) 

3= My geography notes. Only a few of many. In fact, looking back at it, this was probably one of the biggest tests with the most content that I have ever done. So lots of notes were needed!

4= My skippers license forms, I don't know if any of you saw in my bucket list that I crossed passing this off, so these are basically the forms that I need to send through to get the official document and stuff. 

5= My apple hard drive. I love this, I have so many movies and tv episodes on here. At the moment I am loving Revenge and Pretty Little Liars. 

6= 'The Crucible' - my English set work book at the moment, quite surprisingly to myself, I am really enjoying it.

7= Puppy shampoo, haha, I am sure I have told you all, hundreds of times about my cutte little puppy that I got for my eighteenth birthday, well I need to bath him sometime so I bought this.

8= My green wall that I painted myself and love so much. Green is my favourite colour and I really love my room because of my green wall and linen, etc. 

9= A pamphlet for studying a bachelor of medicine at University of Cape Town. At the moment, though it appears unlikely that I'll get in, this is all I want to do with my life!

10= Watercolour pencils that I am using to sketch my art piece before I take the picture to canvas and start properly, I need to mess around with it and make sure I know what I am doing. 

11= My phone. I have a blackberry because that's what everyone here still has, although SA is gradually making the transition to everyone having IPhones. I am not one of those people who can't go an hour without her phone, but I won't say that I don't check it fairly regularly, especially while I am studying for any form of procrastination possible. 

12= My Lip Ice. I can't remember what brand it is but it works so well and it is one of those ones that tastes super good too. 

13= This sounds weird, but thats my "favourite pen", haha, its like the pen that I always write with, I am sure lots of you all have that one pen that you'd pick to write with over another. This is mine. 

14=An empty glass, very random, but I am one of those people who drink a lot! I drink a glass of water or juice, etc. almost every hour, hehe...

15= A couple of bobby pins. My hair very often calls for these.

16= A pamphlet for the volunteer program at Red Cross that I really want to do, I am just really struggling to find time among all of the school work. 

So thats it. And I guess, for something that is so messy and filled with things to do or school work, I kind of love my messy little desk tucked in the corner. 

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

So this Friday night it is my matric Dance (or senior prom) :D Over the past few months me and all of my friends have been talking about our dresses, the colours, style, what we're doing with out hair, nails, the list goes on and on, and so in some pre-prom excitement, I thought that I'd post some of the picture that I had gathered for inspiration and just ones that I really liked, so enjoy.... and if you haven't had your dance yet, maybe these will spurt some inspiration.

50 Random Facts About Me

I have seen this done a few times on Youtube and decided it was about time I did one here so that you can get to know me a bit better...

So here it goes....

1) I naturally have very curly hair but mostly wear it straight

2) I live in Cape Town, South Africa


3) I am pretty tall,  I am about 5,9 feet or so (1,77 meters )

4) I want to become a doctor and study medicine at UCT after school (which is pretty soon!)

5) I love the colour green

6) I went on student exchange last year and lived in Italy for almost two months

7) One day I really want to take part in a travel program called Rustic Pathways- it looks so amazing

8) I could literally live off Lipton ice tea

9) For about 14 years, I dreamt of being a figure skater when I grew up

10) I am fairy nervous and cautious with horses, I've had a couple of bad experiences so am a bit scared of them

11) I hate waking up later than about 9:30 (at maximum) because I feel like I am wasting the day, although at the same time, I am absolutly terrible at waking up in the mornings!

12) It is my matric dance in 3 weeks and I am so excited! I have a final dress fitting next week and my dress is a maroon, red wine colour.

13) Biggest girl crushes are definitely Mila Kunis, Emma Watson and Lucy Hale

14) I love falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the beach- which is why I love spending time in our holiday beach house in Plettenberg Bay

15) I love love love Pretty Little Liars and am obsessed with a far too many other series as well

16) I have mu skipper's license

17) I do art at school and it is one of my favourite subjects

18) I have 3 siblings- two brothers and a sister and they are all younger than me

19) I have the cutest, most adorable little border collie puppy named Gus.... I got him when I turned 18 so he is about 3,5 months now.

20) I love raspberries- they are probably my favourite food. 

21) I am not a fan of shellfish and most seafood in general- including sushi.

22) There's nothing better than a really good cup of tea.

23) I love theatre and music and one day I want to direct a performance where I get underprivileged children to act and perform in it- so that they can be exposed to it too.

24) My favourite shops at the moment are Cotton On, Typo, Zara and Forever New.

25) I play guitar and piano and I used to play violin too, but haven't picked it up for about 5 years. 

26) If I could travel one place tomorrow, I would go to Costa Rica.


27) I can't sleep in pitch darkness, I always need a bit of light on. 

Tahiti

28) Ever since I watched Ali's season of The Bachelorette, I have wanted to go to Tahiti.

29) I have never watched The Titanic.

30) I always dream, like I very rarely wake up and cannot remember what I dreamt that night.

31) I love the smell of the forest just after it has rained.

32) I feel super self-conscious wearing heels because I look like a giant, haha

33) Even in winter, I never sleep in long pyjamas (like long pants or long top) because I find them uncomfortable while I'm sleeping.

Snorkeling

34) I bite my nails and I don't think I have ever really successfully been able to kick the habit.

35) I was born bald and stayed like that till I was about 2!

36) I have a cat called Toffee who I love to bits- he is a fat ginger. 

37) I am very scared of deep sea, because I once went snorkelling and as we were swimming, suddenly the reef dropped from like 2m to 30m and it was so deep that you could see all the scary creatures and things below all the way down to the bottom. There were like massive barracudas and jellyfish and all these creepy things below me.

38) Some of my favourite artists are Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, One Direction, Bastille and Train.

39) I went to a Lady Gaga concert here, in Cape Town, and it was absolutely amazing!

40) I am a very fussy eater- there is a lot that I don't like.

41) I really want to road trip across the US. 

42) One of my favourite things is when it is pouring with rain and I am snuggled in bed under the covers. 

43) I have a memory box that I started when I was about 17 and every time I do something really special, I put a token from that experience into my box so one day I can look back at everything that was special in my life.

44) I used to do synchronised swimming- but after a year I stopped because I didn't think I was flexible enough.

45) If I don't become a doctor, the other profession that I have thought about  is teaching for grades 1 or 2 because I really loving working with young kids. 

46)  I am not a huge fan of movies, I do watch them, but in general I've found that I tend to get bored and find them too long a lot of the time, I'm much more into series.

47) I love summer- swimming, going to the beach, having braais (barbecues), it staying light till late, all of it.

The London Eye

48) I know that nowadays you can download all of your music and play it on your IPod, but I am sucker for buying the original hard copy- I like to have the full CD and then be able to play it from start to finish- because I think one can learn a lot about an artist listening to the full album without skipping songs, or anything.



49) One day, I would really like to live in England for a bit.

50) I am one of those people that cries very easily- happy or sad tears, hah.
