September Playlist

Hey guys

I somehow always find myself doing new posts like a few nights before exams, which is exactly what I'm doing right now, but let me just admit this is procrastination and get on with it haha. Okay, so I've just had a whole bunch of great songs on my playlist for this month (and actually most of August too), and whilst I am sure you'll probably know most of them, just in case you don't, here they are- hope you enjoy! As usual with me, there is a pretty bizarre mix of everything but I love them all!

SWEET PEA- AMOS LEE
I don't know any other songs by this guy, but love this one, it's very cute!

MARVIN GAYE- CHARLIE PUTH FT. MEGHAN TRAINER
This song just makes me happy and want to sing along- super pop-py but in a good way.

DRAG ME DOWN- ONE DIRECTION
Gotta love me a new OneD song, always! And I was so impressed with how good this one is despite losing Zayn, I love this!

JEALOUS- NICK JONAS
I know a lot of musicians might criticise how cliched and pop-py this is, but I gotta admit I love it a lot- again, I just have to sing along.

LEOPOLD STREET- THE PAPER KITES
Very different to the songs I've done so far, but I love the Paper Kites' chilled and relaxed indie folk sort of vibe, and this is one of my favs.

GERONIMO- SHEPPARD
This song makes me happy, I'm keen to see what's still to come from Sheppard.

SEE YOU AGAIN- WIZ KHALIFA FT. CHARLIE PUTH
Oh my goodness, I can't even explain how obsessed with this song I have been. I don't know what exactly it is about it, but I love Charlie Puth's voice, I am not usually the biggest of rap fan but this is pretty cool, and the overall message of the song is a really lovely one.

SEE YOU AGAIN/LOVE ME LIKE YOU DO/SUGAR MASHUP- MEGAN DAVIES AND FRIENDS
I also loove this mash up! Megan Davies' YouTube channel is amazing to start with, but this is definitely one of my all time favourites of hers! Check it out, it's pretty cool and all three voices are incredible! Also, the actual arrangement of the mash-up is really amazing.

TAKE ME TO THE PILOT- ELTON JOHN
Now onto a completely different genre, some good ol' Elton John. I know quite a bit of Elton John, but had never heard this before, and then someone covered it on The Voice, and I immediately downloaded it and was obsessed. It's not for everyone I suppose, but I have a part of me inside that loves American gospel music, and this sort of has that kinda feel and yeah, it's just pretty cool and I like it a lot.

THE WHISKET AIN'T WORKING- TRAVIS TRITT
If you know me, you'll probably know my deep love of country music, particularly the good old stuff like this before it became a bit more pop-py and commercialised. I love Travis Tritt but hadn't heard this song before, and it's one of those that just makes me want to dance around.

LAND OF OPPORTUNITY- A GREAT BIG WORLD
I mentioned in my last monthly favourites that I have been loving A Great Big World's album, and this is one of my favs off it- it's very upbeat and happy.

DITMAS- MUMFORD AND SONS
Firstly, can we acknowledge that Mumford and Sons are coming to SA :D I know a lot of hard-core fans are criticising the sort of slight genre change and shift away from classic folk in the new album, but I must say that I really do like this song. I do think that it's a pity they are moving away from their roots of good old harmonies and banjos, but at the same time, this is still a lovely song. A friend of mine said she thought their new album sounds kind of like a Coldplay album, and I think that's probably the best description I've heard so far, it's not necessarily bad, but just super different from their older stuff. But yeah, I still really like this song.

GOOD TO BE ALIVE- ANDY GRAMMER
Ah, I am a die-hard, long time Andy Grammar fan, and again, he's sort of had a change in sound recently since he has become a lot more popular and commercialised, but I still love what he's doing. When I first heard this song, it was a very weird experience because it's really unlike any song I've heard. The beat is kinda off and a bit odd, but in a really cool way, and yeah it took me a second to understand what was going on, but now I absolutely LOVE it!

BREAKING MY OWN HEART- SWEET TALK RADIO
My dad actually introduced me to this couple's music, and they just do some really cool folk stuff. They have such lovely harmonies and write really different interesting songs, this is one of my favourites.

COLLIDE (COVER)- SAWYER HENDRICKS (The Voice Season 8)
Sawyer was actually the winner of Season 8, and he completely deserved it! He has by far the most amazing, interesting and soft yet powerful voice I've ever heard, and yeah, he really can sing anything. His cover of 'Collide' was just so so pretty!

So that's it for the music I have been loving recently, hope you enjoy!

My Summer Playlist 2015

Woah, it's so weird to me to have just written 2015 in my post title, it's just so crazy that its now 2015, with that comes a new year, and this year, more than ever before, I can really say, I am SO excited for! 2014 was really a great year, I got to experience so many new things, make some amazing friends and learn a lot more, and it was really one of the best years of my life so far because it was just so different and such a refreshing change. But I am so excited for 2015 which I am going to make my goal, to be my best year thus far and just one of optimism, happiness, spontaneity and confidence. These link to a lot of my new year's resolutions (I am such a resolutions type of person) but unlike last year, I decided not to do a whole post on my new year's resolutions as they are personal and in general, like I said, I just want this year to be bigger, better and really to make it the best year of my life so far.

So, I wasn't exactly sure what I should do with this post but I did know that I hadn't posted this year yet and I guess I was just kind of missing you all and my little blog over here, so I decided to do a playlist post that I have been listening to all of my summer holidays! It's a real sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs, feel-good sorta playlist, so I hope you enjoy :)

My August Playlist

I haven't posted in a while and it's not because I haven't had time, I actually have just gone back to vasirty after a week vac, but for some reason I have felt a little uninspired about what to post about. I have a sticky note on my desk top with all these ideas, but they all need a little time (like a haul requires me to go shopping, haha, that sort of thing), so I decided I wanted to do a playlist post, because I love sharing the music I have been enjoying with people, and so yeah, I hope that you like this post, even if you just fall in love with one of these songs that I've been so obsessed with the last few weeks!

LOVE IS WAR- AMERICAN YOUNG
I'm cheating a bit seeing as I only discovered this yesterday, so September rather, but I have had it on repeat literally of all hours of the day since I downloaded it. It's a girl and guy, I assume they're married/together but not 100%, who are just this amazing duet super couple. It's a bit country-ish and just very cute... I love the lyrics, and it's a soft and easy listening folk-y song- do check it out. I heard them sing on Andy's season of The Bachelorette in one of the episodes and went to search them straight away because I love it so much!

FINE BY ME- ANDY GRAMMER
Definitely my fav this past month, also quite a recent download but have already brought it up into one of my most played songs. It's just so happy and upbeat, I literally can't help by sing along, yeah just a super great tune, check it out!

STAY WITH ME- ED SHEERAN (SAM SMITH COVER)
Don't get me wrong, I luuurve the original, and Sam Smith is so great! But wow, Ed Sheeran's cover of this song is just so genuine and beautiful!

DON'T BE SAYING GOODBYE- HOWIE COMBRINK
I heard this song on the radio here in SA while driving the other day and when Shazam couldn't find it (cause Howie Combrink is a fairly undiscovered SA artist still), I spent a LOT of time on YouTube and eventually found it! I love this song, it's very simple and cute, but I love his acoustic, chilled style, and yeah, just a sweet little song.

HEART MADE UP ON YOU- R5
(not 5 rand- for you South African's like me, hehe) I am a bit of a sucker for super upbeat, unbelievably happy pop music, and this is definitely one of those, a little cheesy but really an ultimate pick-me-up song! Yeah, I discovered this band quite recently, and don't know their stuff well, but this song is just very much a traditional pop song, and I kinda love that, so yeah, if that's your thing, check this out!

SHAKE IT OFF- TAYLOR SWIFT
T Swizzle just doesn't disappoint when it comes to singing about how the "haters gonna hate", and this is just a great new song of hers. I am just a little obsessed. I know a lot of people were disappointed with this, and part of me really does miss her good old country tracks, but you know what, she does pop well, and I love this! I think the music video is really funny, and I love that she can at least laugh at herself. Have a listen, but pre-warning, it's pretty addictive, I knew every word within a couple of hours!

I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE- SAM SMITH
Like I said, I am a new fan of Sam Smith, ahh his voice is just SO stunning! He's got such a range and just sings with a lot of passion. This is probably my favourite of his.

THIS IS HOW WE DO- KATY PERRY
This is Katy's newest single, and I seem to have it stuck in my head all the time! Super catchy and very her and pop-y. I just really like it, it's also a really cool, quirky music video.

BETTER THAN YOU THINK- THE DUBARRYS
My friend introduced this amazing, but very undiscovered British band to me, and I love them! I'd say their style is kind of indie folk, that sort of vibe, and this song specifically, I just think is so pretty!

BO$$- FIFTH HARMONY
I wasn't a fan of this song when I first heard it, and I don't know what changed, but suddenly I have been slightly obsessed. It's super sassy and I don't know, I've just grown to like it, it's by Fifth Harmony, who I always support because after watching them through X-Factor USA, I know what amazing singers they are, so it's great to see them releasing a popular single and stuff, have a listen!

MESS IS MINE- VANCE JOY
I'm sure you'll know of this guy from Riptide, which is one of my all time favourite songs, particularly because I discovered it before it became so popular, which, as you probably know, is kinda just the best feeling. But I have recently been listening to his other stuff, and it is so beautiful! This one is my fav of those others...

ALL ABOUT THAT BASS- MEGHAN TAILOR
I don't know exactly what it is about this song, but I love it! Very catchy, so have a listen!

Okay and then there were two albums that I loved so many songs on that I thought I may as well just mention the whole album!

WANTED ON VOYAGE- GEORGE EZRA
Ahh, this album <3 it's so stunning! It's such a lovely mix of chilled and more upbeat stuff and I just really find George Ezra's voice and lyrics so intriguing! It's such an unusual sound in the music of today and yeah, just super good stuff! Some of my favourites:

BUDAPEST (literally on the radio every 2 seconds!

BLAME IT ON ME

SONG 6 (WATCHING PAINT DRY)

BARCELONA

'V' - MAROON 5
Okay, I am a hard core Maroon 5 fan, everything from their first album (still my best) to this most recent one of theirs. I haven't heard all the songs, but from what I have heard, I will be downloading the rest very soon! It's kind of a bit of a new, synthesised pop sound for them, and at first I was a little skeptical, but Adam Levine is Adam Levine, and I just really love this album! My two favs at the moment:

MAPS (also, always on the radio, very popular!)

IT WAS ALWAYS YOU (LOVE this!)

So that's it for some of the music I'm loving at the moment! Hope you enjoy, let me know if you've been as obsessed as I am with any of these songs!

My January/February Playlist

According to my iTunes, I have downloaded 137 new songs since the start of 2014! I got a new 80gig iPod (woah, how huge is that!) because my dad had two like that so gave me one, so I can finally fit as much music as I like on my iPod, cause my old 4gig one had absolutely no more space. So after my downloading frenzy, I have come out with some pretty great music that I wanted to share with you. Its not all (if any) recent/current music. A lot of the tracks are really old or from a few years ago, but they're just ones that I either used to love and have finally found, or completely new ones. Also, be aware, this is just a massive mix of genres, etc. Enjoy...

1) Love Me Again- John Newman
Not that many people even knew of John Newman about 6 months ago and now he's got loads of amazing songs all over and on the radio, etc. This is one of my favourite songs! It's just very upbeat and makes me happy.

2) Hall of Fame- The Script ft. will.i.am
I used to love this song, and completely forgot about it, I'm so glad I found it again!

3) Honey Bee- Blake Shelton
A bit of country is never bad. This is one of my favourite songs of Blake's.

4) Send Me On My Way- Rusted Root
This is one of those great movie songs that everyone knows but no one knows the name.

5) Domino- Jessie J
I know everyone loved this when it came out in like 2011, but I just downloaded it and started loving it all over again.

6) Have a Little Faith- John Haitt
I actually discovered this song when Matt Cermanski auditioned with it on The Voice Season 5. His cover was so amazing, so I downloaded the song. Both the original and Matt do great jobs. I love this song. I have put a link to Matt's cover too.

7) Gone, Gone, Gone- Phillip Phillips
I just love Phil Phillips, and this song is one of my favourites. Its so genuine and always makes me feel happy.

8) Movin' On Up- The Jeffersons Theme Song
I never watched The Jeffersons, so I don't actually know what it's about, but I heard this song and liked it so much I had to download it.

9) Never Grow Up- Taylor Swift
I thought I knew every Taylor song, but this one somehow escaped me from her second album, and it is just so so pretty!

10) I Choose You- Andy Grammer
Oh my gosh- I am just obsessed with this song! I have just discovered Andy Grammer, but this is my favourite!

11) Crazy Beautiful- Andy Grammer
Another one I love...

12) Tokyo- The Wombats
This is such a cool song. I always feel like dancing around and singing when it comes on, and the Wombats are also relatively new I think, so a lot of people don't know about them yet.

13) I'm a Believer- The Monkees
Smash Mouth actually made this popular more recently, but I prefer the 60 original by the Monkees.

14) Happily- One Direction
As the name suggests, just a happy little song.

15) Wagon Wheel- Old Crow Medicine Show
I love this classic sort of folk/country sing-along song, one of my favourites.

16) Everything- Michael Buble
Ah, I have no words, this song is just amazing!

17) What Would You Do- Bastille
This is actually a cover of City High's song, they didn't write it, but I think they do it better than the original! Also, my friend's band do a cover of it that's pretty good, go check it out- they're called 'Hayfever'.

18) Of the Night- Bastille
This is also a remade cover of an 80s song, but again, I prefer it to the original! When I first heard the song, I actually didn't like it, I don't know why, maybe because it's different to Bastille's usual stuff, but now I absolutely love it!

19) Closing Time- Semisonic
There's something about this song that I really like.

20) Alone Together- Fall Out Boy
This is a really great song, I have actually been really enjoying Fall Out Biy's stuff recently.

So those are my top 20 songs on my playlist at the moment!
I hope you enjoy them as much as I am.
