Travel Adventures: Hvar, Croatia

Oh my gosh, I just absolutely and completely loved Hvar and of everywhere I went over the whole trip, this is the first place I would go back to. Hvar is just stunning, it's got the clearest waters I have ever seen in my life and was sunny and cheerful and just a lot of fun! I will say that my good experience here was definitely created by being with great people, having lovely weather and a lot of factors like that that made me just really have such a great time there, but even so, you can't deny the absolute beauty of this little city. It is apparently the country's greatest "party place" and we did have a really great night out there, but in general, its just a place with a lot of young students, travellers and not to mention the very rich and illite. Along the main promenade, if you walk for about 15 minutes along it out of the central town, you become immersed in extravagant hotels and pool side bars and 5-star everything, so it definitely has that aspect to it, which was exciting to fantasise about maybe for one day, but even as students on a budget, we had so much fun there!

One thing you really must do is walk up through the town and then up the hill (not too strenuous of a walk) to the palace. You can then go in and have a look out at the whole town below and the beautiful little islands close by, that kind of look like scattered rain drops. We didn't go into the castle, but still the view was amazing! We ate absolutely delicious pizza there and really enjoyed just wandering around the streets and then as I said, the night life is a lot of fun as well.

So yeah, overall I just loved Hvar, I can't quite put my finger on it, but there was something really appealing and special to it, and I would absolutely love to go back!

Brownie Baking

I have had a craving to bake for quite a while now, and seeing that i have a retreat day at school tomorrow (i.e.: no homework today :D) I thought this was the perfect opportunity.
I lovve brownies, like way over cupcakes and all those other goodies, they just seem to be my favourites. And for a long time I have been looking for a good recipe to make from scratch because I am usually just lazy and use a box kit. So, I did lots of searching on cooking blogs, pinterest pictures and all that and found these amazing chic-chunk brownies on this blog

So here is the recipe, because it is too good for me to go without sharing with you all. They are really crunchy on the outside but all chewy and fudgey in the middle.

INGREDIENTS:

1 Stick butter
About 200g dark/milk chocolate (I used a mixture)
3 Tbs cocoa
3 eggs
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 tsp vanilla essence
pinch of salt
1 cup of flour
1 slab of white chocolate
1 slab of milk chocolate
and any other chocolate (chic chips, etc)

HOW TO MAKE THEM:
1) Preheat the over to 170 degrees celsius.
2) Melt the butter and chocolate in double boiler over stove or in microwave.
3) Sieve in the cocoa into this (now cooled) chocolate butter mixture.

4) In a bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt.
5) Add chocolate/butter mix (cooled) into egg mixture and whisk.
6) Sieve in the flour and mix.
7) Add into chocolate chopped quite roughly.
8) Pour mixture (should be thick) into greased baking pan about 9" by 9".

Bake in over for 35-40 mins is what the recipe says, but mine took half and hour longer so depends on your oven.

This makes about 16 good-sized ones.

PINTEREST- The Sweet Life

These pics are from my baking board on Pinterest. I am blown away at how it is even possible to bake some of these things!

Vanilla cake filled with smarties.

How cool is the layering on this cake, I have no idea how
they did it!

8 layer rainbow cake
Blue velvet cake, I have never seen this before, but
it looks even better than red.
Oreo cheesecake
I don't even know what this is, some type of
berry stuff but it looks delicious.
How pretty are these cupcakes?
Nomnomnom, happy baking <3

Is it hunger or boredom?

So recently I have been thinking about the way that our minds work in relation to being bored and wanting to eat. I don't know about you guys, but definitely for me,  I tend to search the cupboards, pantry and fridge every time I run out of things to do. So this is especially a problem for me now, during the holidays, where I actually have some time to be bored. I can honestly say that I have regularly opened the fridge more then once in the same half and hour, hoping that the second time something new and delicious would appear, hahah- I hope this isn't just me!
So the reason why I wrote this post is because I stumbled across this picture on We Heart It:

So I decided, in honour of all the delicious, amazing goodies I've been liking on We Heart It/ Pinterest, I'd make a little post of some of the yummy things I want to try/make!
